Plant. Grow. Sell. A 6-week hands-on farm-to-market program for budding junior farmers aged 4–12. Limited to 8 participants per group.
Duration: 6 Weeks | Term 4 | Starts Week of October 12th
Sessions: Thursdays, starting October 15th
Ages: 4–12 years
Capacity: 8 per group
The Program
-
Week 1 — The Soil & Seed: Prep, compost, and transplant advanced seedlings into raised beds. Each child manages their own individual crop.
-
Week 2 — Water & Care: Irrigation checks, weeding, and organic pest control. Direct-seed quick microgreens in punnets for a guaranteed harvest within 10 days.
-
Week 3 — Branding & Product Design: Name their farm stall, set prices, and design kraft produce bags, pot stakes, and signage.
-
Week 4 — Money Skills & Customer Service: Role-play the Saturday stall — greeting visitors, explaining how the food was grown, counting cash, and handling payments.
-
Week 5 — The Big Harvest & Quality Control: Pick, wash, bunch radishes, trim salad greens, and pack herb pots to market standard.
-
Week 6 — Market Saturday & Celebration: Run the pop-up stall after Saturday farm tours. Cash up the till, calculate total revenue, and celebrate their first farm venture.
Real-World Business Skills
Children learn about overheads, value, and stewardship — and the best part? The profits are split 50/50. 50% covers Croftdown overheads, and 50% goes directly to the Junior Farmers (split equally among the group).
